Watching Boys Grow Into Men

“Just watching all the little tackers running in the same direction chasing the footy around” It was back in 1999 when Col Davey first arrived at the Rowville Football Club and this is his first memory. It was his son Matts first game for Auskick. Now after being a great supporter of the club off field by holding numerous volunteer roles for nearly 15 years and watching Matt participate in 3 premiership sides he could not be happier.

“Back then when l first came here I didn’t know many people, so I went and spoke to a few of the Dads to see if I could help out as a way of getting involved” Col explained. In my first role l started out filling up the water bottles for the boys. As the kids grew older and they started to show improvement there were a couple of kids that started to stand out, players like Alex Frawley, Max McAra and Dave Mathers. In the Under 11’s/12’s l was a regular goal umpire and most certainly a proud dad when Matt kicked 6 goals in a game" a beaming Col reflected.
