Round 5

12 May 2014 by David Howlett

We were back at seebeck in round 5 for our third home game! It was harsh conditions with the rain and wind but we came off the ground with 3 wins! The U19s got the club off to the perfect start with a 71 point win against Lilydale. It was a hard fought contest up until the main break with the Hawks leading by 21 points. After half time the boys from Seebeck lifted their work rate and piled on 8-13 to Lilydale’s 1-5 to run out comfortable winners. The most pleasing aspect about the win was that every player contributed in what was a great team effort. Both Dean Waterstone and Lachie McDonald left the field with injuries, wishing both boys a speedy recovery. The Reserves came out onto the ground and had to back up the 19’s win, their positive attitudes and the way they attacked the ball lead the boys into the first break 19 points up! With Seedsman kicking 5 and Remington kicking 3 we went into the last quarter with a lead of 11 goals. The boys kept up the work rate and the intensity to make sure they don’t drop off and ran out the game with a convincing win!
The senior game was off to a great start keeping Lilydale to 1 point at the main break. Lilydale putting a strong second half the boys managed to keep on top of them and kept the defensive pressure up to come off the ground with a great win! We look forward to next week to a challenging opposition against Norwood and hopefully keep up our unbeaten record at home!
