Round 6

20 May 2014 by David Howlett

Last Saturday we played Norwood at home. The 19’s took on an undefeated Norwood, in what were perfect conditions for football, Norwood registered two majors in the first minutes before the Hawks re grouped to trail by 7 points at the first break. In the second quarter the Rowville midfield dominated along with a rock solid defence and an open forward line the boys kicked 6-4 while Norwood failed to score. After Half time it was a fairly even contest with the Hawks kicking 9 goals to Norwood’s 7 to run out 43 point winners in what was a high standard game. Great team performance!
The Development Squad came up against a very strong Norwood side who were able to keep us to 1 point at the first break, we came out in the second quarter and fought hard to keep it a highly competitive game with 6 points the difference at the main break. After half time Norwood came out firing and managed to kick 5 goals very quickly, we kept up our fast pace and had the opportunities to kick goals but unfortunately it didn’t go our way! But it was very good to see Sean Visca back after his 3 weeks off due to injury!
Our Seniors took on the highly fancied Norwood, we took out the first quarter with a great start by putting 2 goals on the board straight away to their 2 behinds. Norwood fought back to lead by 7 goals at half time! The third quarter continued and Norwood’s class prevailed and they dominated most of the second half to run off the ground comfortable winners. This week we are up against old Division 2 rivals Montrose! – Blair Morris
