STEADY AT THE TOP

The Rowville Football Club is proud to confirm that senior coach Peter Bastinac will remain at the helm for season 2017.

Recognised as one of the premier coaches within the Eastern Football league Peter’s influence on our maturing list was seen as a vital component in the club’s quest to achieve its goal of “long term, sustainable, success” within the Division One competition. In season 2016 the club continued its upward curb under his guidance and leadership. Positive on field improvement has seen our Seniors finish third on the ladder, the Development side reach their second Grand final in 3 years and a healthy Under 19’s list.

This places the club in a good position to take the next step in its growth plan.

Whilst, clearly disappointing to go out in “straight sets” at the business end of the season, the clubs committee is confident we are in good hands with Peter and success is not far away if we all continue to work hard on and off the field.

Peter told us he really sees us as a developing football team and club, in a premier competition where he enjoys coaching with the associated challenges it presents from week to week.

He believes our ability is at a level to now not only compete with but beat the best sides in the competition, we are becoming more consistent in our work rate and know what we need to bring to the table week in- week out. We are now sustaining a better level of competitiveness to be a genuine finals contender and our biggest improvements has been right across our young playing list, who are now 3 years older with 3 seasons of experience behind them. However, to take the next step we must increase our level of competitiveness within the competition and become more professional on and off the ground.

We have a good nucleus of players who have now played at this level for 3 or 4 years now who l know are more than capable and if they prepared to do what’s required are really heading into their football prime, this coupled with some outstanding young talent puts us in a healthy state for a strong showing over the next few seasons. My focus will remain working on player development in strength and conditioning to complement this.

For us to improve on what we have achieved thus far the players must be prepared to work harder during the off season. That’s where our real improvement will come from, if we are prepared to commit to be a little more professional with our pre-season program and work together on the areas we can all improve on l see great things for the club.

If we don’t then other clubs will pass us, put simply that’s the competition we are in he stated.

My goal is to keep building strong relationships, and have a playing group that continues to not only grow within the competition but reaches its full potential. I will be supporting them with reinforcement of requirements for sustained success because l want to continue to see development within this Football Club and most importantly l want to see these boys succeed in their football.
